How long have you been a member of CrossFit Enclave?

3 Months

Athletic Background:

Mostly playing kickball in the back alley as a kid in the city. I tried out for football as a freshman in high school and broke my wrist during practice. That was the end of that, as far as my mom was concerned “Foosball was the Devil”. Other than that, I’m your average gym rat who loves to eat and has ran a few half marathons.

What brought you to try CrossFit?

I’ve been especially struggling to get in better shape since tearing my ACL and Meniscus a few years ago, I knew I needed something new and different to challenge me and get me excited about working out again.

What were your thoughts after your first WOD?

This guy is trying to kill me...it was great! LOL

What are your training/fitness goals?

Lose weight, start running again and enjoy food\life with a little less guilt.

How has your motivation changed since you started CrossFit?

The other members and coaches here are awesome, super encouraging.

What results have you seen from CrossFit, inside and outside the gym?

I’m down 20lbs in 2 months and I feel great. I’m eating better not less just better.

What is your favorite CrossFit WOD and/or movement?

I’m bench press junkie so our recent chest day was my favorite. I don’t hate ring rows, they are an awesome modified workout for me and I’m looking forward to graduating to regular pull-ups.

What is your least favorite CrossFit WOD and/or movement?

Burpies, box jumps, lunges, I could go on but I know they are all good for me.

What is your favorite thing about CrossFit?

The community for sure there are so many bad a$$ people here you feel motivated to do your best all the time and I also love how the workouts are preset and there is nothing to think about you just go and run through the list.

What’s your number one tip for balancing family life, having a career and finding time to work out?

Making it a priority and realizing sometimes everything else can wait. You always feel better after the workout no matter what you felt like before you started. I also find it to be helpful to put it on my calendar like any other meeting or responsibility.

What is your favorite CrossFit moment/achievement?

How much easier the assault bike has gotten, I hated it at first and really struggled with speed and now I look forward to it being part of the workout.

Tell us something no one knows about you:

I love being at the pool, during the summer I spend hours poolside and can’t wait for next summer.

Any advice for people just getting started with CrossFit?

Just show up know matter how you think you feel. The human body is amazing it can adapt to just about anything and “your mind will quit before your body” courtesy of Coach Freddy (that really stuck with me).

What is one piece of CrossFit equipment you swear by?

Nothing special for me but comfy gym clothes, water bottle and a sweat towel.

Do you have a favorite elite CrossFit Athlete (or other professional athlete) you follow or admire? Who & why?

I’m a boxing fan and Tito Trinidad was my hero growing up. He was great boxer who became a world champion and represented Puerto Rico and that meant a lot to our community.
