How long have you been a member of CrossFit Enclave?

Since June of 2018

Athletic Background:

Gymnastics and Swimming.  I was on the swim team and had meets at Whitney Young HS.  I competed Level 9 Gymnastics and absolutely loved it.

What brought you to try CrossFit?

Needing accountability for working out.  I would run or go to the gym, but I was never consistent.  I googled CrossFit boxes near me, and Enclave, by far, looked like the coolest and BEST location.  My expectations were exceeded to say the least.

What were your thoughts after your first WOD?

I could not believe how weak and out of shape I was.  It definitely humbled me and killed any confidence I had – LOL.  Everything hurt, and I was sore for weeks. Loved it at the same time, immediately got hooked, and wished that I had found/started CrossFit sooner.

What are your training/fitness goals?

To conquer Double Unders, be able to do a muscle up on the rings, get stronger doing strict pull ups, and improve on all barbell movements/lifts.

How has your motivation changed since you started CrossFit?

Working out is fun and exciting and gets me pumped up now!  Instead of it feeling like a chore (pre CrossFit). I’m committed to show up and keep trying, and I’m less afraid to try new things now.

What results have you seen from CrossFit, inside and outside the gym?

Gaining strength and having more energy.  CrossFit in the morning is the best start to my day, and it puts me in such a good mood.

What is your favorite CrossFit WOD and/or movement?

Handstand walking and bar muscle ups.

What is your least favorite CrossFit WOD and/or movement?

Double Unders, but only because I can’t do them - LOL.  They are THE most frustrating movement I have ever tried.  Once I can actually do them though, I might be a fan.

What is your favorite thing about CrossFit?

#1 - the wonderful, encouraging, supportive people!  The coaches and athletes at Enclave are the best. Always being able to talk to fellow athletes who feel the same way about a particular WOD or movement is very comforting.  We’re all in it together.

#2 – workouts are planned in advance and being told what to do…I just have to show up and try!

What is your favorite CrossFit moment/achievement?

Doing The Open all five weeks and not quitting, even though I felt intimidated and not at all qualified to even participate.

Tell us something no one knows about you:

My husband has an identical twin!

Any advice for people just getting started with CrossFit?

Just keep coming back and walk thru that front door.  You’ll be happy you did. I still get nervous, but after (surviving, lol) the workout, it feels so good.

What is one piece of CrossFit equipment you swear by?

My NO BULL gym shoes…makes me feel legit:).

Do you have a favorite elite CrossFit Athlete (or other professional athlete) you follow or admire? Who & why?

Oh yes!  MATHEW FRASER.  Aside from being an amazing athlete and the FITTEST man on earth, he’s beyond dedicated and hardworking!
